Cyriel Dessers registered a goal and an assist as Rangers defeated Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe 3-1 on Thursday night, REPUBLICAN NIGERIA reports.
Dessers opened the scoring for Rangers in the sixth minute.
The Nigerian rounded the Fenerbahçe goalkeeper before firing the ball into the net.
Ghanaian international Alexander Djiku equalised for Fenerbahçe on the half-hour mark.
Dessers set up Václav Černý for Rangers’ second goal three minutes before the break.
The forward had a goal chalked off for offside early in the second half.
Černý netted his second goal of the game nine minutes from time.
Speaking after the match, he said “Overall, I think we can be very happy with this evening. We handled them well. It will not be easy to handle them again next week but you see that we can hurt any team on the counterattack,” the former Feyenoord forward told UEFA.com.
“It’s a very nice feeling to score in a stadium like this. For the first goal, I just saw the ball drop between the defender and the goalkeeper and that’s one of those moments as a striker when you have to be sharp,” he added.
