The National Sports Commission (NSC) has expressed optimism that Arsenal sensational teenager Ethan Nwaneri will play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, REPUBLICAN NIGERIA reports.
The NSC director-general Bukola Olopade in an interview said the commission will help in whatever way for Nwaneri to play for Nigeria and not England.
This is part of the policy of the NSC to ensure Nigerian-born athletes are no longer lost to other countries.
It is understood that Nwaneri is open to play for Nigeria.
Nwaneri, who will be 18 later this month, has hit the spotlight this season for Premier League title –chasing Arsenal.
He has scored three goals and made an assists in 17 appearances in the Premier League this season.
The exciting right winger, who could also play as a centre-forward or attacking midfielder, is also eligible to play for England and has featured for England at U16, U17 and U19 levels.
